Who runs the site

The site is run by Andy, an independent web publisher based in the UK who has built and managed websites for many years. Andy writes and edits the guides here for readers in the United States, so prices, products and retailers are US-focused and spelling is American English.

Andy is not a licensed contractor or landscape architect, and the site does not sell, design or install anything. Where a project needs a professional (gas lines, electrical work, structural attachments to a house, permits), our guides say so.

What we cover

We start where a landscape plan starts: layout and zones, then the structures that shape a backyard. Our main sections are pergolas and gazebos, greenhouses, outdoor kitchens and backyard planning.
